CREATENEERING
Founded 2016
Createneering is Michaella's most recent venture. She is bringing her wealth of knowledge in the arts, design and engineering to education, developing courses that introduce technology learning playfully through the arts. Encouraging students to become Createneers, individuals that use technology as tools to create instead of just being digital consumers.
NOMILI
Founded 2007 - present
Dr. Michaella Janse van Vuuren is a designer and artist with a PhD in Electrical Engineering. These diverse interests enable her to create sculptures that are technically complex and artistically competent. She founded NOMILI in 2007 to exclusively focus on design for 3D printing or additive manufacturing.
“I love the challenge of creating something that is imagined and then designed on computer and seeing if my idea printed out as envisioned. The first time I hold the design in my hand is when the finished product comes out of the 3D printer”
AGENTS OF THE 3D REVOLUTION
Founded 2013
The Agents of the 3D revolution was founded by Dr. Michaella Janse van Vuuren in 2013. The Agents are pushing the boundaries of this exciting and empowering technology. Agents are artists, designers, educators, open hardware creators and many more. The Agents of the 3D revolution hosted exhibitions of 3D printed design and artwork accompanied by courses, seminars and live demonstrations of the technology. The events hosted at the University of Johannesburg FADA Gallery and the GUILD Design fair aimed to educate, inform and inspire. Presenting some of the foremost international 3D print designers and technology, and promoting cross disciplinary interaction and collaboration.
The Agents of the 3D revolution featured artists such as:
Joshua Harker, Nervous System, Prof Keith Brown, Jonathan Keep, Geoffree Mann, Dr. Lionel T. Dean and Dr. Michaella Janse van Vuuren.
The exhibitions were conceptualized by Michaella Janse van Vuuren and executed with Mariapaola McGurk.
